Interview With Russell Gillenwater

Written by Equipo Easy On at 12:05 23/9-2011

?: Hi Russell, how are you today ?

R.: Not good. Depressed and demotivated.

  ?: WHy ?

R.: Dunno. Just so, I guess.

?: You recently returned to your first team, EEO, no1 team at that point in time.

R.: Yes, and I hated it. And so did everyone in the team.

?: Aah. In general, rumour has it that the mood at EEO is really poor.

  R.: Yes!

  ?: Why?

R.: You know, our manager recently hired a few mediocre sprinters to improve the lead-out train. OF COURSE everybody hated it.

?: But shouldn't that improve the team?

R.: Maybe, you know but this is not about how fast a rider can potentially be but about (whispers): psychology ..... (nods sincerely)

  ?: Any example?

R.: Look at Caspar Ottens, a decent lead-out. We all got even more depressed when he joined the team. Logically, our mood will not get any better while he is there and get even worse when he leaves the team next month.

?: Does management do anything to improve your mood ?

R.: (laughs) Yes. By now we do not have to do any jobs anymore, we have some fun riding break-aways that never succeed and we are utterly pampered with super soft bib-shorts and the like.

?: In the last race, Khoza fell from his bike just like that, you refused to get out of the saddle in the sprint and B. Wurst did drink all the water bottles himself.

R.: Cool, eh ? And management still buys canteens and energy bars!

?: Maybe you should look for another job ?

R.: Why, we do not need to do jobs on the side, we do not need to exhaust ourselves in stupid cycling races and still we cannot be fired because then the rest of the team is even more depressed! That's better than civil servant!

?: Don't you think that this will affect your team ?

R.: Dunno. Will it ? I couldn't care less. You know what, this was kind of tiring. Didn't you promise me a free meal? Actually, where are the drinks and the hookers ??

I am as late at reading this as your guys. A lot of TS comments all over the place. I`m not so sure that EEO management likes this addition. (%)
